If
you are a beginner at sketching, then you ought to practice a lot to
get a good hang of it. You will be taught several techniques at your
sketching class, but if you have to improve it, you have to keep
practicing even when you are not attending the classes. There are
many inspirations that you can get just sitting on the porch of your
house. You could see kids cycling or playing, butterfly fluttering
from one flower to another, birds perching on a tree trunk, ice cream
vendor, a nice car parked across the street, a beautiful house with a
lovely garden on the opposite side. There are many things you can
draw inspiration from. When you take a walk in the park during your
leisure time, do carry the pencil and paper along. You can sit there
and try to practice your sketch while observing people and nature.
Sketching
and drawing is the basic foundation for painting. Hence you have to
get perfect with it, before you can go further. Carry your sketchbook
and pencil in your bag, wherever you go, be it a restaurant, bank,
bus, zoo, theater, circus, or even when you travel out of town. You
will never know what beautiful thing you will get to see on the way,
and you would want to sketch it. It is also good to carry a camera,
so that if you do not have time to sketch on spot, you can capture
the moment in your camera, and then sketch it in leisure.
If
you are learning sketching on your own, you can always take up a
short course in sketching,
which will polish your already existing skills, and you can see a lot
of improvement in your work.
